Tribute to the "King of Philippine Comedy, Dolphy."

Every single Filipino (that I know), grew up with him. Practically everybody from different age bracket adores him: from the young ones and the not so young ones. The only thing that seperates us from him is the TV screen. We have seen him from different movie outfits, different TV stations and different radio stations. And he gave us all the greatest gift of all: "the gift of laughter."

Rodolpho Vera Quizon Sr., known as "(Tito) Dolphy or Pidol," to everybody is a Filipino actor who started way back when the internet, the twitter, facebook and even the colored TV ever existed. He started way back when air-raids (by the Japanese) interrupts a stage show only to resume few minutes later when no bomb explodes. Tito Dolphy started way back when the basis of being a real actor (or actress) is not only measured by the value of their faces but their versatility and talent. He can do voice projection through radios, can sing, act, dance and perform both male and gay role with an astonishing conviction that you'll laugh your heart out or until tears roll down your cheeks.

His fist stage name was, "Golay," and started performing before the age of 17 during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. And his first film, at 19.

From the time he started to act on stage until this time, tito Dolphy surpass more than 7 generations; but those 7 generations loved him dearly. He was well blessed yet he stayed humble and became a great blessing to each and every single Filipino. Our lives, directly and indirectly, was touched by this man whose aim is to make everyone not only smile but laugh. Through his performances, he have shown love to us his viewers. No one can question that. He is truly a great artist. The value of life was seen through the value of his humor that was imparted to each person who watches him through films or TV shows. The laughter he brought to all of us is accompanied by the sense of hope and leads us to search the real value of "joy" and the real value of being a Filipino. He gave "Filipinos" a different meaning: Filipino, noun - people who smiles through adversity. That entire, he did in his lifetime. He did it well.

On the day that he died, I wrote this on my FB status: God said to him, "Well done! You've accomplished your purpose: You have made people laugh. Now it's my turn to laugh here in heaven. Make me laugh!" And so He extended His hands unto him. Rest in peace, to the King of Philippine comedy -- Dolphy -- the world will not be the same without you but your laughter will echo through infinity.

And to the Quizon family, thank you for sharing him to us. We are also sharing the pain of losing him. Our sincere prayers are with you.

He made everybody laugh in his lifetime. Now all these "everbody" cries because he's gone now.

Paalam John Puruntong! Goodbye Kevin Kosme. Au revoir, Father Jejemon. You'll be truly missed.

"Long live the King!"
