A Summer to Remember

Months of July and August came and passed. So much things happened and so many things experienced some for the first time and some not. So much to tell yet no time to do so. So much to share even in just photos.

Well, in summary, August was well spent with my extended family, family and my husband alone.

I went one and one with my husband on a dinner date and spend a night in a classy hotel without the kids for the first time in years and years of being together. Realization, we should do this every year.

Secondly, my family and I also went to a zoo-like safari where animals are out in the open, an hour outside Paris together with my brother, my sister-in-law and my niece. And a day in the pool (sorry, it's a public pool so no photos allowed). So happy to see that my brother and his family are having fun too.

And I together with my husband and kids spent a week in Santa Susanna and Barcelona, Spain, where the sun, the sand and the warmth of air are just a smile away.

Let the photos speak for all the exciting experiences that we had. Let them speak for themselves.

Enjoy viewing.

God bless those who bless me

As I blow the candle on my birthday cake today, I thank God for all the blessings (big and small) that came and will come my way, for all the circumstances (ups and down) that brought me where I am and most specially for surrounding me with people who truly loves me. I am where He wants me to be. Thank you for all the birthday greetings (long and short through facebook and e-mails), I felt really loved and blessed on my special day. Continue to journey with me on this path so-called Life. God bless those who blessed me.

Another year older

Today is my 37th birthday. Another year older but as I always say, I don't mind getting old, for I always believe that there are no old people in this world... only children with wrinkles and white hair. So happy birthday to me. Let's celebrate life like this... - Mimi Pambid -

Tribute to the "King of Philippine Comedy, Dolphy."

Every single Filipino (that I know), grew up with him. Practically everybody from different age bracket adores him: from the young ones and the not so young ones. The only thing that seperates us from him is the TV screen. We have seen him from different movie outfits, different TV stations and different radio stations. And he gave us all the greatest gift of all: "the gift of laughter."

Rodolpho Vera Quizon Sr., known as "(Tito) Dolphy or Pidol," to everybody is a Filipino actor who started way back when the internet, the twitter, facebook and even the colored TV ever existed. He started way back when air-raids (by the Japanese) interrupts a stage show only to resume few minutes later when no bomb explodes. Tito Dolphy started way back when the basis of being a real actor (or actress) is not only measured by the value of their faces but their versatility and talent. He can do voice projection through radios, can sing, act, dance and perform both male and gay role with an astonishing conviction that you'll laugh your heart out or until tears roll down your cheeks.

His fist stage name was, "Golay," and started performing before the age of 17 during the Japanese occupation of the Philippines. And his first film, at 19.

From the time he started to act on stage until this time, tito Dolphy surpass more than 7 generations; but those 7 generations loved him dearly. He was well blessed yet he stayed humble and became a great blessing to each and every single Filipino. Our lives, directly and indirectly, was touched by this man whose aim is to make everyone not only smile but laugh. Through his performances, he have shown love to us his viewers. No one can question that. He is truly a great artist. The value of life was seen through the value of his humor that was imparted to each person who watches him through films or TV shows. The laughter he brought to all of us is accompanied by the sense of hope and leads us to search the real value of "joy" and the real value of being a Filipino. He gave "Filipinos" a different meaning: Filipino, noun - people who smiles through adversity. That entire, he did in his lifetime. He did it well.

On the day that he died, I wrote this on my FB status: God said to him, "Well done! You've accomplished your purpose: You have made people laugh. Now it's my turn to laugh here in heaven. Make me laugh!" And so He extended His hands unto him. Rest in peace, to the King of Philippine comedy -- Dolphy -- the world will not be the same without you but your laughter will echo through infinity.

And to the Quizon family, thank you for sharing him to us. We are also sharing the pain of losing him. Our sincere prayers are with you.

He made everybody laugh in his lifetime. Now all these "everbody" cries because he's gone now.

Paalam John Puruntong! Goodbye Kevin Kosme. Au revoir, Father Jejemon. You'll be truly missed.

"Long live the King!"

One of my first

Soon I'll be 37. And at this time of my life, I cannot imagine myself experiencing one of my first (without the help from my husband). I thought, I'm too old for "firsts" but I thought it wrong.

Believe it or not, it's my first time to cook something for my family. Normally, at home it is my husband who cooks. It's his profession anyway and me, I'm not really interested in cooking, sad to say for a woman and a mother of three at that.

Usually, I am the "instant" type of person. Microwave is my best friend if my husband is not around.

Well, I don't really know how to cook. Ok, I know how to bake and I rarely do, just for birthdays and special occasions. Which is 5 times a year for our family or if I include my brother and his family, that would be 8 times a year.

Yes, I still visit the kitchen once in a while to help wash the dishes and that's it. Don't get me wrong, I was raised to appreciate more the "eating" part than the "cooking" part of life.

From my grandmother to my aunts, (and that stops there) they were all good cooks. Actually, they were the best. During town fiestas, our neighbors can't wait to have a taste of my Titas' cooking, 'cause they were so extra-ordinary in preparing mouth-watering wonderful dishes. And me? I am the best taste-er. Instead of preparing food, I am more interested in eating it.

But today, I prepared it and cooked it. To tell you honestly, I did really enjoy (ok, a little bit) the process of preparation and I looked forward for the outcome with great anticipation.

Flashback first: about 10 years ago, my husband is teaching me how to cook step by step. He told me to wash that, peel this and cut those. Put salt, sautéed it and bring to boil.

I did those step by step. And here comes the dinner time.

One thing I love about my husband is that he can't and don't know how to lie. You can see the answer right there and then as he tastes what I cooked. And my cooking career stop just right over his first bite.

Another thing I love about him is that he is always a gentleman. He wouldn't want to hurt my feelings so he said instead, "hmmm... Not bad, yes, really, its not bad. But you don't have to worry about cooking next time. I'm always here. I'll do it." So I let him do it.

But this time it is different. I had the idea of what to cook. I prepared it, i cooked it and the highly anticipated result was also shown on my husband's face. He surely love it and the kids love it too. But hey, don't get me wrong again, I won't be starting a cooking career, just to let you know. And please I didn't even cook a 7 course meal. I just did a "gratin de pomme de terre." Very simple, very easy to prepare yet very tasty. But I'm really proud of my accomplishment as well as my husband and kids. In one sitting, it showed how they love my very first "gratin," as much as how I love my very first cooking experience.

Bon appétit!

Moving out and going...

Well, supposed to be this is my first article, right? Wherein I'll write about me, me and all about me. But sad to say that this is not. I'm just moving out of my blogdrive site (http://thebutterflies.blogdrive.com) because it is becoming extinct and transfering here. Been having lots of problems with the site lately and it's been weeks of discerning whether to move out or no. Well, actually, I also have another two. One is here in this site (http://onlifeandlivingit.blogspot.com) wherein I write stories about my kids and another is in wordpress (http://anythingunderoroverthesun.wordpress.com) wherein I write stories about random things I see, hear, taste, recall etc... And this one (http://itsallaboutmimipambid.blogspot.fr), basically, a continuation of things I usually write on blogdrive. My travels, my experiences,  opinions, how I see things, about being a mom or simply how i celebrate my life...  So as I said, this is all about me, me and all about me. I hope you'll follow my blog and enjoy reading it.
